“Recycle, Repurpose, Repair” Is a poster series dedicated to the critical rethinking of modern day recycling systems, with a key focus on the fashion industry and its environmental impact. Included in the series are facts & figures taken from notable resources, including the Environmental Protection Agency database, which provides the numbers that frame the issues the fashion industry causes. During the research phase of this project, I targeted thrifting & reusing clothing, as textile production is a huge contributor to water & air pollution due to the materials manufacturers are using. These materials contain plastic and synthetic fibres, making them both toxic to the environment, as well as incredibly difficult to recycle. The imagery is found and scanned, as they exemplify the styles often associated with thrifting.
